Hi Mike! Just wanted to let you know that Kona (Aqua girl from Captain and Beauty) is doing great! At 5 months old she weighed in around 45 pounds and is a happy, healthy and playful puppy! She is busy meeting all the other animals around her and we are working on teaching her to be their guardian as well as ours. Kona has also discovered that chasing tennis balls is equally as fun as chasing the cats! (I'm sure they will eventually be napping buddies) Kona has that wonderful Great Pyrenees smile all the time! We love having her around and I think she likes our company too! AJ & Alyssa Merry Christmas Housman’s!
Walt is a complete joy. Thanks again! He recently entertained a class of autistic children with his Grandmother, behaved beautifully while we hosted a dinner party for 30 people, and diligently guarded presents on Christmas Eve. He is a wonderful addition to our immediate and extended family and is loved by all. Wishing You a Fantastic New Year! Will Hello Mike! Callie is doing fantastic. She is very independent and incredibly smart, but loves to snuggle when she is tired. She loves to go on walks and bike rides, and she even experienced her first camping trip this past weekend. She had a blast playing in the river. She has a very good temperament and does well interacting with people and other dogs. We are very happy with our little girl and can't wait to take her on more adventures and watch her grow! Thanks again! Landi and Tauston Makea is from the September 29, 2013 litter by Princess.
Makea is absolutely the best dog. She possesses a gentle, affectionate and smart personality. Makea is very healthy and was spayed about 3 months ago. We have had a wonderful time watching her grow and develop with each passing month. She travels with me frequently to run errands, visit the vet, beg for treats at the pet store and Caribou coffee and she waits for her daily walk. She loves both people and other dogs which is a wonderful quality in a busy neighborhood. I could not have asked for a better friend and companion. She is devoted to each family member and possesses a lovely guardian personality. Just what we wanted! Thank you for a great friend, Jodi S. Merry Christmas Housman Family!!
We are loving Elsa and she is getting so big! Everyone she meets loves her and we take her almost everywhere with us! The only problem we have is how smart she is, haha! We built a penned in area in our garage and she has learned how to climb the five foot fence. We've had to extra puppy proof everything but we can't help but laugh at how smart she is :) This past weekend we went into the Black Hills to cut down a Christmas tree and Elsa was in heaven. She loves to jump around and run in the snow. Elsa made a best friend named Angus who is a two year old golden retriever. Luckily he's very gentle with her and doesn't mind if she gets rough with him! She likes to chase his tail and pounce on him, it's really funny. She also loves to take long naps! Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season! The Lee family |

This is Zoey. She has turned out to be a great dog. She is a big goofy baby. She makes us laugh every day. Thank you so much, Jennifer M. |

We recently moved to a country home and as we looked for a breeder from which to purchase a puppy we were looking for a high quality breeder who socialized their puppies well AND fed them a high quality diet. Talking to Mike of Housman farms about their home and Great Pyrenees I just knew we had found the right family/breeder. I normally would have thought spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a dog was a little crazy to be perfectly honest, but we had peace about the purchase and knew the puppy would be an excellent dog and had total confidence in the integrity of the Housman family as well as the quality of the breeding program and holistic care of the puppies. We just knew he would be a blessing!
Upon picking up the new puppy, I was pleased with how physically solid and how pleasant a demeanor his mother Princess Anne had. Captain, his father, was striking as well.
Mike had instructed me on the importance of teaching a Great Pyrenees good manners from the very beginning just as they do (you just don't want a 125 pound dog mauling you at feeding time, pulling you on a leash, or jumping up on people. So, I prepared myself to put forth my most intensive effort on his first walk. Imagine my pleasant surprise as he (without a leash mind you) happily trotted along just behind me and instantly stopped AND sat down EVERY SINGLE TIME I stopped o walking. I was flabber-gasted! I continued to stop and start reinforcing his behavior until we had completed nearly a quarter of a mile. He was very curious about the smells and sounds and yet stopped and sat down without fail (let me repeat I did not command or help him to do so).
Mike did warn me that it would take patience to train him to stay seated until I gave him the command that it was OK for him to eat...
So, I rolled up my sleeves so to speak, and was prepared to put in as much work as needed to ensure my kids could feed a full-grown Samson without being knocked over. I filled his bowl and turned around only to see an eight month old puppy seated and patiently waiting for me to give him a command! I used the command Housman Farms uses to feed their Pyrenees and he casually stood and calmly walked to his bowl. He is now 11 months old and continues these behaviors. The only exception: If I miss one of his four feedings/am late he requires multiple opportunities to remain seated until I give command, but I think that is understandable for a growing puppy!
Despite his previously angelic character, I was nervous for him to meet the cat. She doesn't like dogs. I have never seen a puppy lay down when a cat gets nervous, but he did.
Now, I could have just received a MIRACLE PUPPY and to be honest, I believe he is our miracle puppy. However, I have NEVER heard of a puppy who sits automatically next to me each time I pause on a walk, or who will calmly sit down and wait for a command the first time place his food on the ground in front of him. So, I have to believe that Housman Farms had something to do with the temperment and habits of our delightful puppy Samson (it is possible he picked them up from watching the adult dogs).
I don't normally take time to send in reviews, either good or bad, however, this was well worth my time and effort. My visit to their farm was....inspirational. The kids who help them socialize the puppies are responsible and kind, and the adult male dogs are remarkable in my opinion. I whole-heartedly recommend Housman Farms as a Great Pyrenees resource and hope that if you are looking for a Great Pyrenees dog for your family that you will too.
My husband and I, along with our three boys Ethan (5), Piers (3), and Wyatt (6m) are deeply grateful to have such an incredible dog in our family!!
Thank you God and thank you Housman Farms for little blessing, Samson. He is truly a GIFT! : )

Calvin with his new family
Hi Emily!
I can't believe he is already 6 months old. Calvin is doing very well. He is a very well adjusted pup and just wants to meet every dog and human he sees. Luckily everyone wants to meet him as well - most the time people stop me to tell me how adorable he is. Cal is my little buddy (and quickly becoming my big buddy) approaching 70lbs. I attached some pictures of him doing the things he loves - laying on a cool tile floor, canoeing down a river and just being outside.
We should all have a reunion so all the siblings can reunite sometime! He has yet to meet another Pyrenees - but he does just fine with about every other dog he plays with.

Lizzie with her new owner
Hi there Mike,
A note to let you know that Lizzy is doing wonderfully. I took her in to my vet yesterday afternoon for her first shots. She weighed in at a whopping 22.5 lbs. He said if she follows the growth chart for her age and current weight, she should weigh 120 to 130 lbs. She was quite a hit at the clinic.
Our wolfie loves her and is a great mentor for her. The grand children love her. They wore her out….

Bailey with her owners
Hi Housmans!
Just a quick note to let you know everything is going fine with our new puppy. We have named her Bailey and she is a delight! All of our 'adult' kids and our grandkids came over yesterday to meet the new member of the family. So, needless to say, she received much attention and was tired out by the end of the day. ( I was tired out right along with her!) :) We have been aquainting her with her new property, showing her the boundaries of where she will be expected to 'guard'. It was actually a really good 'workout' trekking throught the deep snow. She kept up with me pretty good and in the end I think I was more worn out than her! I think she'll be 'up' to the new job in due time. She is eating fine and we are learning a new way of feeding our dog. A little more work but will defenitely be worth it! Each day she grows more and more comfortable with her new home and new family. She loves to roam outside. Of course she doesn't stray too far from us right now. She wants to get to know the cats but they don't seem too interested in getting to know her. In time they will be friends, I'm sure.
Again, thank you for everything. We are so very much enjoying our new pup and look forward to spending many years with her!
God bless your family!
Lisa
